Rosarito Seaside is the seat of the municipality of Rosarito Seaside. The city is the second biggest in the Tijuana metropolitan region and southern seashore city of the San Diego–Tijuana international metropolitan area.

It is the westernmost municipal seat in Mexico, slightly farther west than neighboring Tijuana, which lies inland to its north-northeast. As of 2010, the city had a population of 65,278.

Rosarito has historically been centered on tourism and Rosarito escorts. It started with the Ortiz family’s establishment of Rene’s (Bar, Restaurant, Trailer Park and Motel) in 1925. Rene served his town holding the place Delegado (Mayor) much more than any other politician in Rosarito. Rene, a prominent businessman, helped produce Rosarito from a ranch to a town which later on grew to become a city. When Rene was not in a position to serve his individuals any longer he chose as his successor Hugo Torres Chabert, a good friend and owner of Hotel Rosarito. In September 1996, James Cameron’s production team moved to the newly developed Fox Baja Studios in Rosarito, the place a complete scale RMS Titanic had been constructed for the 1997 movie, in which Fox acquired 40 acres of waterfront south of Rosarito Seaside.
